Table of Contents
GeoNetWeaver has three main display regions: Map, Dashboard, Legend.
Map
The map display region has a toolbar at the top. Just below that is a description of the current map in the form: current geoProject:current mapped topic. Under that is the map. Below the map is either the current coordinates of the cursor in map units or a hint for wherever the cursor is if it is not over the map.

Process
Process the results to update the maps. This button will enable if changes have been made to the knowledge base indicating that the results need to be updated. This generally will only happen if you have made changes to the knowledge base or the mnemonic constants after loading the geoProject. Update the results by pressing this button.
System
Dashboard
The Dashboard is used to summarize the current map and give an overview of the current results.
Dashboard Tab
From left to right:
- Map data sufficiency gauge - this gauge represents the features (weighted by the weighted by component) percent that is used in the calculation of the current statistics. In the example all (100%) of the area is used in the current stats calculations.
- Chart data sufficiency gauge - this gauge represents the amount of data that we have vs what we would like to have for the features used in the calculation of the current statistics. In the example the topic has about 65% (area weighted) of its data needs met.
- Sideways Histogram - this histogram is a classification of the current statistics for those features with “some” data and weighted by the weighted by component.
- Mean indicator - the color of this indicator represents the overall value of the whole map for those features with some date (those included in the above mentioned histogram).
Statistics Tab
Weighted by
This is a drop down menu of weighting methods for all results. The most commonly used ones are “none” and “area”. Changing this setting will cause an automatic updating of all results.
Statistics
This is a chart of statistics for the currently mapped topic.
Info Tab
This tab gives access to some background on the currently mapped topic.
Legend
Legend Tab
Toolbar
-
- Include effects of missing data in the rendering of the map by fading the color to white as the amount of missing data increases.
- Show polygon outlines. – If the outlines are shown they are drawn in black, otherwise they are not drawn at all.
Results Legend
Here is a two-dimensional legend:
- Vertically it represents trueness level – True at the top and False at the bottom
- Horizontally it represents data satisfaction level – 100% data needs met at the left and 0% data need met at the right.
The two vertical sliders on the right control:
- Missing data transparency threshold – a filter to adjust the minimum amount of data needs met before the feature is drawn. Only those features whose data sufficiency is at least the value of the threshold will be drawn on the map. 0% is the default – all features are drawn, regardless of missing data level.
- Opacity level – allows you to make the layer some level of transparent. This is handy if you want to “peek” under the results layer to view an underlying layer.
Map Legend
Here is an optional auxiliary legend. This legend is created and managed using MapWindow GIS http://MapWindow.org
Outline Tab
Here is an optional outline of select topics. The outline is created only if topics are assigned to its root in the GeoNetWeaver setup wizard. You can use the outline to navigate the map by clicking on a topic in the outline.

Inputs Tab
Here is a list of all the input topics (simple data links).
Data Tabs
Here are tabs for each of the database tables connected to data. Each tab list the contents of the database table for the row that corresponds to the place on the map last clicked. These tabs are optional.
